This year, Bright Side Early Care & Learning Center is celebrating an incredible milestone—10 years of serving children and families in our community. As we reflect on the past decade, we’re filled with gratitude for every child who has walked through our doors, every family who has trusted us, and every CHAMP who has poured their heart into making a difference. Over the years, we’ve learned many valuable lessons about children, families, faith, and the incredible impact of early childhood education. Here are ten of the biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way.
1. Every Child Is Wonderfully Unique
No two children learn the same way, and that’s something to celebrate. Each child brings their own personality, talents, interests, and God-given gifts into the classroom. Our role is to encourage those strengths while helping every child grow at their own pace. By meeting children where they are, we create opportunities for every child to succeed and build confidence in their own unique abilities.
2. Consistent Routines Build Confident Children
Children thrive when they know what to expect. Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen how predictable routines create a sense of security, reduce anxiety, encourage independence, and help children transition confidently throughout their day. From morning greetings to circle time, meals, outdoor play, and rest time, every routine is thoughtfully designed to help children feel safe, successful, and ready to learn. When children feel secure in their environment, they’re free to explore, grow, and reach their full potential.
3. Play Is Powerful Learning
To a child, play is fun. To educators, play is one of the most powerful ways children learn. Whether they’re building with blocks, painting a masterpiece, experimenting with sensory activities, pretending in dramatic play, or exploring outdoors, children are developing language, creativity, problem-solving skills, fine and gross motor skills, and social-emotional confidence. Play isn’t a break from learning—it is learning.
4. Faith Helps Build Strong Foundations
One of the greatest blessings of being a faith-based childcare center is the opportunity to introduce children to God’s love from an early age. Through prayer, Bible stories, worship songs, and everyday conversations about kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, and compassion, we help children understand that they are deeply loved and created with purpose. Faith in early childhood isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about planting seeds of hope, love, and trust that families can continue to nurture for years to come. Those small moments of faith can grow into lifelong values that guide children well beyond their early years.
5. Families Are Our Greatest Partners
Parents and caregivers are a child’s first teachers, and we consider it an honor to partner with them. Open communication, mutual trust, and shared goals allow us to work together to support every child’s growth and development. When families and educators work hand in hand, children receive the consistency, encouragement, and support they need to thrive.
6. Small Moments Leave the Biggest Impact
Some of the most meaningful memories aren’t the big events—they’re the everyday moments. A child’s first successful attempt at writing their name, a comforting hug after a difficult morning, hearing laughter fill the classroom, or watching a friendship blossom remind us that the little things often have the greatest impact. These moments shape children’s confidence and create lasting memories for families and teachers alike.
7. Community Makes Us Stronger
Bright Side has always been about more than childcare. We are proud to serve and grow alongside our community. Through special events, family celebrations, outreach opportunities, partnerships, and our intergenerational experiences, we’ve learned that strong communities are built through connection, kindness, and service. We are grateful for every family who has become part of the Bright Side family over the past decade.
8. Our CHAMPS Make the Difference
Behind every smile, milestone, and “I did it!” moment is one of our incredible CHAMPS. Their patience, creativity, dedication, and unwavering love for children are what make Bright Side so special. Every day, our CHAMPS create engaging learning experiences, celebrate each child’s successes, offer comfort during challenging moments, and build meaningful relationships with families. They don’t just teach—they inspire confidence, encourage curiosity, and help shape the next generation with compassion, faith, and excellence. We are truly blessed by the hearts of our CHAMPS and the difference they make in the lives of children every single day.
9. Learning Never Stops
Children aren’t the only ones growing. Great educators are lifelong learners, too. Over the past ten years, we’ve continued to grow as a center by embracing new ideas, strengthening our teaching practices, and finding new ways to provide exceptional care and education. Our commitment to continuous learning helps ensure we’re always giving children the very best start possible.
10. Gratitude Changes Everything
As we look back on ten incredible years, one feeling rises above all the rest—gratitude. We are thankful for every child who has filled our classrooms with laughter, every family who has trusted us with their greatest blessing, every CHAMP who has faithfully served with love and dedication, and every community partner who has supported our mission. Most importantly, we thank God for His faithfulness throughout this journey. His guidance, provision, and grace have been evident every step of the way, and we are excited to see what He has in store for the future.

While we’re celebrating the past, we’re even more excited about what lies ahead. Our mission remains the same: to provide exceptional, faith-based early childhood education where children feel loved, families feel supported, and every child is encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
